If you see packets with "listen" then your port is working, the error
message is possable caused by another "uncommented" line in
/etc/ax25/axports.

Or could it be you need to use the port "name" which is defined in
/etc/ax25/axports

I dont have a baycomm modem, however my statements above are only pointers.
