I could use some help here. I have the RedHat 6.0 release v2.2.5-15 kernel
loaded on a pentium machine. I have applied the
ax25-utils-2.1.42a-3.i386.rpm and have rebuild the kernel to allow the
Amateur Radio functions with the highspeed port interface along with KISS
and NetRom functions. I have read the Mini-howto for NetRom and 1997
version of ax25-utils Howto.

Starting up the system seems ok, I seem to have missing files under the
/var/ax25 mheard and ax25rdt subdirs. In fact I had to 'touch' both
loggedin files. The mheard.dat does not self create and I have no clue what
goes in the /var/ax25/ax25rdt dir. Connections to the <netrom> port seem to
work but connections to the [NODECALL VIA ax0] or [NODE_ALIAS VIA ax0] do
not work.

The systems see's the dmascc ports 0/1 in the interrupt mode. I can not run
the dmascc_cfg to configure the serial sync port (B) for DMA mode. I
finally got into Klaus Kudielka's machine and saw that there is a ax25-util
patch -4 for the ax25-utils. Does anyone have experience with this patch? I
have read some articles regarding the 2.2.x kernels and ax25-utils and am
lost without current doc's.

What I could use is a current directory tree of the required directories
and files to support ax25-utils. I could use a current HOWTO if one exist.
There are differences regarding syntax of the ax25d.conf files between the
mini-howto and the ax25-utils-howto.

Comments to get me going would be greatly appreciated, 73
