Hello OMs,

I hope not to bother you since discussion about this topic there's
already been.
But searching at http://hes.iki.fi showed up nothing significant more
than just mentioning that there are several multiport serial cards
supported by Linux available.

What I miss are some experiences using these cards, and
sometimes even where to purchase them. That is especially true
for this mysterious AST Fourport card that appears very often in
context to Linux.
We asked some of the german distributors of computer hardware,
noone knew about that AST Fourport card or something similar.
Does that mean this card is only available overseas?

Searching this mailinglist's archive we found the following cards
mentioned:

Digiboard 8x
Byterunner Model TC-200
Comtrol Rocketport PCI 8port
Boca Research 6-port card
MS-400/MU-400 card
Modem Research (MR)
Boca BB1004

Unfortunately, these data is incomplete. Modem Research, for
example, is surely a manufacturer of such cards, and who makes
these MS-400/MU-400?

But what is even more interesting here are your experiences made
with these cards. Where could they be purchased (german
distributors preferred)? How much did you pay for them? Was it
easy to set them up on Linux or was it a nightmare? Especially,
how do they work with AX.25/Packet Radio TNCs? Or can even
BayCom style simple serial modems be used?

Very interesting questions for me and my colleagues here, can
someone be so kind and answer them?
Thank you very much in advance!

Cheers, 73

Gerd
