I'm Paolo, from Treviso (ITALY), and i have a question about the window
parameter of Linux over an AX.25 link.
My Linux gateway (gw.ir3ip.ampr.org) is linked at 38.4 Kbps to the local radio
network (running with PSK simplex-links at 1.2 Mbps) : in this conditions i
expected that trasmission rate will be up to 4 KByte/sec (limited by the 38k4
link) , but there is great limitation due to the restrict number of frames that
are sent by the linux gw.
I'm using datagram mode, i set the maxframe to 7 in
/proc/sys/net/ax25/ax0/standard_window_size .
MTU is set to 512, MSS to 472 .
When i open a http o ftp connection, and i try to download anything, the Linux
gw send to me only 2 frames, and then wait for a TCP acknowledge .
Because i connect the gw through 3 SuperVozelj nodes (that made IP-transport at
the layer 2) , the rtt time is something like 200ms , so the
trasnfer speed decrease at 3 KByte/sec and less.
My question is :
* Why does Linux send only 2 datagrams and then wait for an acknowledge ?
* Is there a way to increase the number of datagrams sent ?
* Is there other solutions to increase speed over ax.25 network ?
