rip protocol is not part of ax25-utils, because it is a generic
ip routing protocol wich belongs to a bigger sector than hamradio.

In your unix distribution, you will find "routed", for RIP-1.
But:
1) Rip-1 is too old, it doesn't support generic subnetting !
2) routed period of broadcast is to little for low capacity packet
radio-channels.

Some weeks ago Craig Small pointed me to the Zebra project. Look at
http://www.zebra.org, and download it.
That is really interesting, because the "team" of programer is mind
opened. They added the possibility to give to rip configurable timers,
for us, hamradio.

Zebra supports well RIP-1 and RIP-2.
I am testing it this week, it seems to work well (but I only have
2 routes to test X-(

So, for doing routing in Linux, start in thinking in zebra ...
