aprsmon (comes with aprsdigi) receives UI frames using kernel AX25,
and sends them to connected (IP) clients in a TNC-like message, suitable
for javAPRS, according to the doco. Is that the same format that
WinAPRS expects for igates? If so, does other igate software 
do more than this?

That's ok, with javAPRS I can probably display it under Linux anyway.
