Hi Bob, I got your tarball thanks and will work with it. I will not use
your ax25d.conf and such because I have those that work fine for my setup
under the 2.0.38 kernel.
I'm still concerned about the kernel configuration. This is because
everything but "call" works fine right now. I have watched the nodes
accumulate and all that with normal 'ifconfig' listings. I have compiled
the binaries on RH6 using the ax25lib software. Nothing seems to fix the
Call problem.

} Karl get ftp://bob.midtown.net/linux/ax25_RH.6-0.1.tar.gz It's an
} incomplete installation/ configuration package but it has the 42a
} utilities that I compiled on Redhat 6.0. Just run tar on it and you will
} find the stuff in the ax25_RH.6-0.1/sbin and ax25_RH.6-0.1/bin
} directories. If you feel brave, run install.sh. It will move your
} /etc/ax25 directory to /etc/ax25.old and create a new directory setting up
} ax25d, axspawn, node, pms, ax25ipd, netrom, beacon and it will bring up
} axip and loopback interfaces. It puts the binaries in /usr/local/sbin and
} /usr/local/bin. If you have a single port TNC then you can copy
} ifcfg/ifcfg-ax3.singel_port to /etc/ax25 as ifcfg-ax3 . Edit the
} SERIAL_PORT variable on the first line and run ax25-up. The script
} 'ax25-up' brings down all the ax25 stuff and restarts it. If you have two
} single port TNCs do the same thing for it but change the name of the file
} to ifcfg-ax4 and so on. You start netrom and/or beacon on an interface by
} editing the ifcfg-axX file.
}
} There's an example of a dual port TNC there too, but I don't have a baycom
} or sound card modem so I don't know how to set those up.
