Hello.
I read the AX25 HOWTO but some things are still unclear.
I sucessfully outputted garbage to my speakers with soundmodem. Well,
successfully as in it sounds like a packet of correct length when i ping
somewhere on the net that I ifconfig:ed sm0 to.
What I want to know if I can use soundmodem with ordinary com-radios (I
don't know the real term, just call the that to be able to call them
anything). You know, the small boxen that use 27 Mhz (dunno about US, but
27 Mhz here) and have about 40 channels and squellish and all that nice
stuff.
>From what I understand I need some piece of HW to push the send button (I
assume that is what is refered in the howto as "push-to-talk") and if I
can build it myself.
The bottom line is, I have a couple of spare boxen and a friend has some
of the above mentioned com-radios and he's getting cable internet so I
want a permanent line to him. I don't care how low the speed is (I can
still ssh to him and burn a CD). We can't use a physical network (two
blocks away) but voice over the above mentioned hamradios gives perfectly
clear sound so that is not a problem.
I guess soundmodem is the cheepest and best solution, but feel free to
correct me if I'm wrong.
