I have a similar problem to F6FGZ that is driving me crazy. I also
run KDE 1.1 and XFBB. I'm on about the sixth re-install here and
running out of patience.

I'm running the OpenLinux 2.2 release with a 2.2.10 kernel with
ax25 code compiled in. Actually, the cd had ax25 compiled in as
modules but did not pick up the netrom code so I recompiled with a
2.2.10 src.

Everything works fine until I shutdown. At this time something is
causing the kernel to panic. At this point you have to reset to
restart ... and the partitions are left in an unknown state and
fsck goes to work.

About every second or third time it find indode 121859 corrupt and
clears or deletes it.

Then, as the startup progresses you can not startx or kde ...
because fsck has deleted the device /dev/tty0.

Is there a way to reinstall this device without having to
reinstall the whole distribution.

Please say there is !!!

Thanks,

Dale
