I looked at the linux-kernel flash infos and there is a warning about the
file system corruption. They even discourage the use of 2.3.11 if you have
precious data on your HD. It is a problem that doesn't appear on my machine
until I have to shutdown/reboot it. So if you need to do that and you use a
2.2.9+ kernel, think about backup your data before (at least the
modifications since last boot) ...
There is also some quota related problems, and I used it for my users
account. Other functionnality than AX25 were IP masquerade, FPAC, CLX, KDE
1.1 on my system.
Hope this may give some clue if you experience Kernel panic at shutdown
and/or filesystem corruption at boot time.
