check out  www.symbol.com   Symbol Technologies has a 2.4 Ghz  1 mbit a
second wireless
PCMCIA card that we tested in house at NEC electronics.  It gave about
100-200 ft distance
maybe more if the antenna was in a line of sight direction with micro access
point (MAC)
The name is Spectrum24  Wireless LAN PC Card.


The price was about $300 for the wireless card and several to many hundred
for the MAC.
The point being that you could have up to 80 people using this single MAC.
So you could
get your friends to go in with you to purchase the MAC and each his own
PCMCIA card to
stick in the lap top.
