Hello,

I just finished upgrading my Debian to be able to run the last set of
ax25 tools.

Actually the system is based on 2.2.13 custom compiled kernel and glibc
2.1.2 (updated thanks to apt). I have installed the last Debian packages
for ax.25 libraries (including dev), tools and apps.

xfbbd, xfbbC and the other utilities compiled ammost cleanly (except a
#define SOL_AX25 257 i had to add to drv_sock.c). I've used the 7.01c
source tree.

xfbbd starts normally and answers to regular ax.25 calls as it's
supposed to do.

But xfbbC fails to connect xfbbd on the localhost. Each time i try to
connect with xfbbC, xfbbd crashes with a segmentation violation and it
restarts. The weird thing is that it works when xfbbC is executed on a
remote host :

- When i execute "xfbbC -c" at the server (f5kow) concole it fails with
the following output :

alex@f5kow:~$ /usr/local/sbin/xfbbC -c

Client application for xfbbd v2.1 ( help : xfbbC -? )

Authentication in process... Ok

Console connection ...

read: Connection reset by peer
Connection closed. Terminating
alex@f5kow:~$

- When connecting the server by telnet and then executing xfbbC -c
(still on the localhost), i get the following on the telnet client side
:

alex@fakir:~$ telnet -l alex f5kow

So i'm thinking on something related with permissions on the displaying
terminal... i have no tip on where to look at this point !
I still can connect xfbbd from another host but i would like to be able
to use xfbbC on the localhost as well.
Thinking on the listen utility, i did a 'chmod u+s' on xfbbC but didn't
get any result.

Any ideas ?

Thanks for taking time to read.

Alex.
