Ladies and Gentlemen,
(This is kind of a long one)
I'm trying to do this:
\ /
\ /
\/
|
|-|----| |-------| |--------| |--------|
|Radio |---| TNC |----| Linux1 |----|-----| Linux2 |
|------| |-------| | | | | |
|--------| | |--------|
| __________
|------| Linux3 |
|________|
Linux1 2, and 3 are all on a home network.
Linux1 is presently 192.168.192.6 - ether
and 44.69.196.17 - ax0,nr0,nr1,nr2
Linux2 is presently 192.168.192.1
Linux3 is presently 192.168.192.2
Linux1 also is set up w/2.0.36 and the 42a utilities and FBB.
ax0 is the only port - 44.69.196.17 I have added nr0, 1, and 2
for the Netrom Node, FBB and outgoing KB6FST-14 using John Ackermann's
page as a guide - works great.
Linux2 is 2.2.6 - this one has an isp dialup connection.
Linux3 is 2.0.36 - doesn't do anything, strictly part of the learning
tools.
All are scabbed Redhat5.0/.1/6 at this time and all are running fine.
Linux1 can be contacted as IPFST:KB6FST-1 - LinuxNode
or ELBBS:KB6FST - FBB. Outgoing connects are on KB6FST-14
I have been assigned additional addresses by the regional co-ordinator.
They are as follows: 44.69.184.3
44.69.185.3
44.69.186.3
44.69.187.3 (Is there any advantage to an assignment
like this?)
What I would like to do is add jnos, and I'm having a heck of a time.
(The reason is that it appears that Jnos will be easier to setup for
dialups to get a mailbox going around here. There are not enough radios
up in the area for mail or anything else for that matter. They pop up and
down very irregularly - I'm hoping that a little consistency will generate
more interest locally. Mine has been up 7/24 for well over a year now and
I've had a few school teachers express interest, which is great, but it
doesn't do much yet to interest the local students).
I assigned jnos(111d) to 44.69.184.3 and I have slattach and can set that
up to ping between linux and jnos and between LinuxNode and Jnos, and then
I stall. Bad :-)
How do I get Jnos to appear to the radio world?
I followed the example of Jim Moore WU3V that came with the docs and
attempted to modify it to match my setup using only the "lan" interface
descriptions and turning servers off that I can't use at this time (like
convers and smtp for example). I'm not sure exaxtly what to do with the
ax0, etc interfaces with only one radio available at this time.
Among some of my problems are when I start jnos I get errors
saying that it can't broadcast on netrom because netrom isn't attached,
and yet start netrom and attach netrom commands are in my autoexec.nos.
When I try to attach it manually from the console, jnos answers that it can't.
period.
Is there anyone on either of these lists that would be willing to work
with me privately to get this thing going. I hate to clutter the lists
with my ignorance or my, at times, brain dead observations. I've read all
the docs a couple of times and I've saved alot of the emails on both
these lists that pertain to this, but I just don't seem to get it... The
ole' lightbulb overhead just isn't lighting up on this one :-(
Thanks for your time (and patience),
John Cusick
