I've used Maxon radios for a job, but I can't remember the model.
The ones I had were UHF, single channel,
in a tin box about the size of a deck of cards.
Connections on the DE-9:
1 - tx audio
2 - rx audio
3 - PTT (open collector, pull low to transmit)
4 - earth
5 - power (+11V max)
6 - carrier detect (active low, IIRC)
7 - RSSI (which I think may have been a local addition)
8 - unused
9 - unused
Levels of the audio signals for my job were changed for some strange reason,
so I don't know what they were meant to be. Sorry.
