Hi again,

As Jean-Paul suggested i have been doing some tests with my ax.25 server
to find out if problems would still occur or not.

Firstly, i have to clarify that the kernel Oops i've experienced are
quite randomly based and so i won't discuss this point anymore until
i'll be able to give a more exact description.

So, here's what i've been testing around xfbb 7.01d1 on a Debian 2.1
base, upgraded to glibc2.1.1 thanks to apt dedicated tool.
The same setup used to run flawlessly with 2.0.38 and 7.00g26 xfbbd a
few days ago.

Running latest tools, apps and libs for ax.25 operations.
Debian 2.1 is exclusively libc6 but i had to install libc5 from old-libs
section for compatibility reasons as linuxnet (Xnet 1.18) is still based
on libc5. I don't know if this last point can cause problems...
Everything else is as per the Debian 2.1 CD set (which i used to install
the whole system from scratch 4 or 5 months ago).
My /usr/local/ is almost clean as i have installed as much as i could
from Debian binary packages.

Here are the reports of what i've tested on the AX.25 server :

1- Ethernet alone (NE2000 PCI ne2k-pci.o) :
  - Big FTP transfers (70Mb+ files), telnet and HTTP -> no problem in
any
of my two Debians with 2.2.13 (radio server and my personal machine).

2- One ax0 interface linked to ttyS2 (nothing connected to ttyS2) :

xfbbd + ax0 (xfbbd listenning in a single port, no FBB telnet port) :
   - xfbbC makes xfbbd "segmentation violation" and restart.

xfbbd + ax0 + eth0 (xfbbd listenning in a single port, no FBB telnet
port) :
    - xfbbC makes xfbbd "segmentation violation" and restart.
    - Any TCP/IP traffic over eth0 makes xfbbd "segmentation violation"
and restart. The other machine of course behaves normally.

3- One bcsf0 interface :

xfbbd + bcfs0 (no FBB telnet port, just one port) :
   - xfbbC makes xfbbd "segmentation violation" and restart.

xfbbd + bcsf0 + eth0 (no FBB telnet port, just one port) :
  - xfbbC makes xfbbd "segmentation violation" and restart.
  - Any TCP/IP traffic over eth0 makes xfbbd "segmentation violation"
and restart. The other machine of course behaves normally.

4- All my AX.25 related stuff except xfbbd.
Without giving the exact arrangement, that includes :

   bcsf0, ax0, scc1, sethdlc, kissnetd, kissattach, net2kiss,
   linuxnet 1.18, beacon, dxnet 3a15 (2.2 binary).

   - None of this programs has been giving any kind of problem except
the "buggy protocol" syslog warnings for bcsf and scc that have
     been discussed again today.
   - If i include eth0 i have no problems. Can do massive FTP or HTTP
without interfering with the AX.25 programs.
   - As soon as i include xfbbd in the list of applications, xfbbd
starts
to crash as it does with lighter configurations tested earlier.

Hope this will give a snapshot of what i have to deal with here.
Would be glad to have any pointers on what i could do to try to isolate
possible problems causing xfbbd to be so unstable here.
I can of course provide scripts or complementary information if it can
help.

Thanks for taking time to read, Alex.
