In order to keep (a) continuity with my old dying DOS system, and, (b)
maintain all of the facilities offered by the UK-IP spec JNOS (not all
supported in Linux kernel), I am trying to run JNOS under linux.

So far I have got it to run in tty7, but it won't talk to my ports.

The question is this. Does JNOS share the ports with kernel? ie: when the
system boots up, I initialise all of my ports (scc's & tnc's), and then
issue ifconfig to set each one up, for example:
scc0 is 1200bd on 433.65
scc1 is 1200bd on 50.67
scc2 is 9600bd on 430/439MHz
etc...
The linux machine has the address 44.131.162.130
Jnos (gb7zpu.ampr.org) has the address 44.131.162.129

In JNOS, I issue the command:

attach asy scc0 0 ax25 scc0 256 256 1200

JNOS replies with "File or Directory does not exist"

Does this mean that I have to perfom a kissattach for each scc port? Even
though the DL1BKE driver presents each scc port as a kiss inteface?

If I go to a different console and enter ifconfig, it lists ALL of the ports
(all 6 scc ports, 2 tnc's, loopback, slip, etc..)

It comes back to my pet subject - the lack of documentation. It's all in the
AX25-Telepath-HOWTO.

All I really need are some sample config files :

An autoexec.nos for JNOS 1.11d giving attach & ifconfig commands for scc
type ports, or in fact, any ports that are also used by the kernel.

The docs111d.zip file available from many ftp sites only shows autoexecs
from people who have jnos talking to KISS TNC's which don't appear to be
configured via kernel ax25.

Yes I do have lnxforward, and that doesn't compile with libax25-0.0.7, yes I
do have mailgw, and NO it doesn't support all of the facilities that the
UK-IP compiled/modified version of JNOS1.11d has in itself, which is a
shame, because it looks a much tidier way of operating a mail gateway.

Seasoned Gratings.
