Well I finally got a chance to look at the SANS Institute handbook
"Securing Linux Step-by-Step" and from what I have seen, so far, is very
good information. In a nutshell it covers the installation, securing a
workstation, securing a server, tuning and packet firewalls and a bunch
of tools. It goes into depth with Sendmail, IP Masq and a host of other
services. It is written too Red Hat 6.0 and the 2.2.12 kernel.

I am not affiliated with SANS, other than an attendee, but would
recommend this to anyone getting started with Linux. A place to start if
interested would be:

If it suites your interest, then enjoy!
