The following is only a thought and quite possably might even work.
I dont have a yam to  try my thoughts on but i would try.

attach asy /dev/yam0 - ax25 yam0 1024 256 1200
1024 = bufsize
256 = MTU
1200 = baudrate (modem).
Now configure the interface in the normal tnos manner.

I would be interested to hear if that works or not, there are a few
otherways to use it under tnos as well, this way is the most logical
providing the yam driver works like the scc and other linux drivers.
