One way of doing it is to have a small 5 port hub in which to connect all
three pc's together. Only one port is usable at a time on the same card.
With the prices of nics these days it worth getting all the same type for
your network. There are plent of ne2000 compatables or the 3com 3c905 pci
family is good to use.
