As far as I know, please correct me if I am mistaken, on every system you can
always set up a web server with PHP support and a web browser. And that
achieved you've got the most portable solution. Besides, everybody is moving
towards a web interface because of the use of Internet. And you may as well
expect people who have very little knowledge on computers to feel confortable
with a web browser, because they are used to use it (after all it is probably
the most commonly used application worldwide).

Said this, there is no doubt that PHP will not solve every aspect as
efficiently as any other language. And of course, you could always use another
language to solve certain parts, which in my modest opinion that should be
the best approach. My point is that we should come with a solution that would
fit our needs and be as portable as possible, and we should also strive to
implement only *ONE* solution in order not to spread the efforts.

And yes, I am also a perl fun (that's why I use modperl in my web server ;).
Although we both should take a look at python, which seems to have some
strengths that perl has not)

This lot of discussion may look a waste of time, but it takes time to find out
how to make things right, and this could save us alot of work in the future.
Any more opinions? :)

And now a question. I am very newbie on radio O:). Do all those programs you
are using log all the stuff you need (such as for example sendmail logs to whom
it sends/receives every mail) and we need to pile those logs up in a database?
Or do we also need to spit out every info? [Actually, I do not know the meaning
of many terms you need to record... yet ;), and also English is not my mother
tongue...]

Regards, Alvaro
