Yup - thats the one. Been bugging me for months not to mention using an extra
port up to avoid in & out on the same interface (seperate TX & RX ports).
I spent a long time looking into the code but didn't make any headway as I
couldn't get it to send an ICMP message to indicate why is wasn't forwarding
the packet. I was hopeing to track the general area of code by using the ICMP
error codes.
Alan Cox indicated that it was rp_filter being enabled by the distro code but
I've proved to my own satisfaction that that isn't the case as I've tried (as I
indicated previously) all combinations of build config & /proc values.
