If I remember right, there were three different hfkernels ("kernel" in
this case is different than "OS kernel"). One was in the in Linux
kernel (the one you could choose when compiling the kernel) and
another one is hfkernel_user which interfaces the normal oss api. And
I think tom once said that he doesn't want to maintain
hfkernel_kernel/hfmodem any more, because it doesn't offer many
advantages and because there are too much different soundcards to
support. hfkernel_user should work with any card which has a normal
oss driver. I hope tom will correct me if i am wrong.
