If you had read the INSTALL file in each archive libax apps and tools, you
would have seen this;
./configure --exec_prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var
make
make install
Then everything should have gone fine.
You can get around the problem on hand by editing
/etc/ld.so.conf and entering /usr/local/lib and then run ldconfig.
It should then work, as to other things all working you might bump into
more problems later on.
