Do you have a linux box? If so, use IP Chains and
make your linux box into a firewall, IP Masq machine.
After 2.4 kernels come out, we will all be doing network
address translation (NAT), but until then, you will masq.
If you do not have a linux computer:
Go buy a five year old Intel computer (486 or better) or
a $300 Celeron or AMD K6-2 chip computer, put linux
on it and run IP chains if you are run the standard issue
kernel with all of the distributions. If you are adventuresome,
and want to run a 2.4 kernel, then do network address
translation (NAT) which we will all be doing soon.
This linux box will be your translator/firewall and will need no
monitor, keyboard, and you could probably get by with a really
small drive if you could buy one. If you buy one of the under
$100 disk drives (large EIDE drives/ especially UDMA) you
will need a Celeron or AMD K6-2 or more motherboard to
be able to talk to it.
