read up in 'man lilo', look around the append option
1. you might need to add append="hda=c,h,s" to lilo.conf
where c,h,s are the cylinders, heads and sectors for your HD
2. for the size of your HD the hda=1232/255/63 number is too small for
cylinders and too large for the heads,
look at the label on top of the HD for the correct parameters or go to
IBM directly
My guess is that those numbers are from the BIOS when LBA is enabled
you need LBA for dos/windows support.
Linux 2.2.0 has better support for large HD, take your time deciding whether
to upgrade

It turns out that Netgear has a Linux driver for the newer version of
their card available on their web site! (I'm *extremely* pleased to
find manufacturers starting to write Linux drivers.) To quote from a

Their web site offers the driver, and explains how to tell if your
card needs their driver for Linux.

Maybe your trouble has to do with not setting the route correctly??

Just bought a 3Dfx Voodoo2 card, downloaded Glide 2.4, and it
doesn't work... Guess I'm a wee bit dumb. Can anyone give me some
pointers on the things I need to get quake2 to run with the Voodoo 2 ?
The relevant output from cat /proc/pci:
Bus 0, device 20, function 0:
Multimedia video controller: 3Dfx Voodoo2 (rev 2).
Fast devsel. Fast back-to-back capable. IRQ 255.
Prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xe2000000.
My video card is a Viper 330 by the way :
Bus 0, device 19, function 0:
VGA compatible controller: NVidia/SGS Thomson Riva 128 (rev 16).
Medium devsel. Fast back-to-back capable. IRQ 11. Master Capable.
Latency=32. Min Gnt=3.Max Lat=1.
Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xe0000000.
Prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xe1000000.

I am stuck. I am so close to having x-windows working. First it was the
video card, now it is the mouse. When I start-up the mouseconfig program,
the little block moves around the screen with the mouse. Then, after I
start up x-windows, I get nothing. Just a little pointer that sits on the
screen. I tried two mouses (Logitech Mouse Man and a regular PS2). Redhat
does not say much about what to do in this case. Please help.

The inaccessable part of the Xwindows screen is due to incorrect monitor
settings.

allow you to change your monitor. Experiement with the settings untils it
comes up right. I've managed to get a Satellite Pro working well choosing
the "Hyundai hcm-412E" monitor. Try this, it may work.

Hi *!
I got a pair of old ethernet cards:
8-Bit ISA, with AUI and Coax
AMD 7990 (+7992 + 7996) chipset (LANCE)
SK written on the front side,
ELTOS, 0792 and 60-10-011-003 on the back side of the PCB
One main SMD chip is labeled: SK Japan W-Germany 30-90-001.
There are eight dip switches, all of them usually off and sealed.
Does anybody know what this board is, who made it,whether it works and how to
configure the lance driver for it?
What are the switches for?
Thank you for reading.
