Don't people read others' USENET posts any more? (You spelled "any" wrong,
by the way.) If you would have read my other posts, you would have seen
that 1) I am printing from a Windows machine, and 2) I was able to get the
"raw" printer device configured via Samba like I wanted. The problem still
remains that lpr is not even printing anything at all, even though the
daemon process is running*.
* = fixed now
Here is my /var/spool/lpd/uniprint-letter-auto-color/log :
/tmp/apsfilter/filter/aps-uniprint-letter-auto-color: /tmp/.echotmp:
Permission denied
/tmp/apsfilter/filter/aps-uniprint-letter-auto-color:

/tmp/apsfilter/filter/aps-uniprint-letter-auto-color: /dev/console:
Permission denied
rm: cannot remove `/tmp/aps_header.32746': No such file or directory
As you can see, the problem with the printtool Postscript Test was that
/tmp needed to have write access for non-root users. I fixed that problem
just now, and was able to print a Postscript Test page just fine.
I just tried printing a test page from my Windows machine with both
suggested Apple LaserWriter drivers, as well as the Epson Stylus COLOR
ESC/P 2 driver, and none were successful.

so where is DMAbuf_init and the other one located?

Subject: Having problem with dual AHA-2940 on P2B-F
Date: Thu, 29 Apr 1999 20:58:17 +0200
Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hi,
I'm looking for help, i'm using two Adaptec AHA-2940 on a ASUS P2B-F
motherboard. On both the AHA-2940, the BIOSes are enabled (for DOS) and
both boards are connected to one hard drive.
The ASUS BIOS scan finds the board PCI@10 first and activates first
AHA-2940 BIOS - installing hard drive 0x80 - and then the BIOS on the
second/other AHA-2940 at PCI@11 is activted and installs hard drive
0x81.
But when linux load - and when aic7xxx.o is insmod'ed - it scans the
SCSI controlers **in the reverse order** so my 0x80 (first) drive ends
up as /dev/sdb (second) while the drive attached to my second AHA-2940
(second drive) is named /dev/sda (first). I cannot install LILO properly
: it gets nstalled on the second drive, not the boot drive, and corrupts
the FAT boot record.
Can some help me sort out this mess :
- is there a way to reverse aic7xxx.o scanning of PIC bus?
- is there a way to 'force load' aic7xxx.o with a specific PCI
slot number?
- is there another way of making this work?
Thank's in advance if you can help.

Subject: ASUS P2B + 3c905b don't work ?
Date: Thu, 29 Apr 1999 19:04:57 GMT
Dear Netters,
I have 3 ASUS P2B (PII/400) based PCs under RedHat 5.2 w/3C905B-TX NIC
installed. All works OK when I had connection w/10 Mbps Ethernet ports.
But when I connect them to 3COM OfficeConnect Switch 400 (4*10/100 ports)
I can't work with 100Mbps.
The both sides are set for autonegotiation (for both media and duplex modes).
Unfortunatelly I see that autonegotiation isn't successful.
One of 3 3com cards reset the speed to 10 Mbps (perhaps after driver start);
2 another cards simple don't work, i.e. "hang-up" at ping (ping -v said
something like "host unreachable"). The situation is the same w/DOS and W98
drivers - new v.4.01 from www.3com.com !
If we are setting the Media to 100Mbps in DOS/3c90xcfg.exe, then they say
that there is no such media, i.e. negotiations w/switch was unsuccessful.
If we set it to 10 Mbps - all work OK.
The switch itself is OK, because we had normal 100Mbps connection
from SGI O2 and Origin200. Morevore, I checked 3COM OfficeConnect Switch 140
on 100 Mbps port - also w/o success; but again work normally at 10 Mbps.
ASUS P2B BIOS version is 1006, the problems known was before 1005.
I'll be very appreciate in receiving of any ideas or information -
if somebody works successfully at 100 Mbps w/3C905b on ASUS Pentium II
motherboards.
Yours

Whwn linux boots the messages say that the 'aux' device has been

does not even see a ps/2 mouse plugged into the extenal port. All works

This has baffled me!

I am using the same motherboard with a Quantum 9 GB drive, a SCSI SyJet
drive, and a SCSI CD-ROM. I had no problems installing from the CD-ROM
with SuSE 6.0. I also set my harddrive to ID 6 and had the same
problems with LILO.
After reading the LILO HOWTOs I found a solution that worked for me.
You need to add a line near the top of the LILO file saying BIOS
0x80(?). Sorry I don't have access to the file right now. You should
be able to find the particulars in the HOWTOs.
I saw somewhere that LILO normally won't boot off any hard drive not on
ID 0 or 1 so the above is needed.
If you still have any problems with this let me know and I will get the
exact layout of my LILO file.

Seems like you might as well use Linux's software RAID support for
mirroring. It's not the kind of CPU overhead and complexity that
RAID 5 would involve.

This card is too new to have any formal drivers for it. However, someone
