That controller is actually an AVA-1502
Do a search with Linux and AVA1502... there's a page with instructions
on how to make it work.

I followed Randy's instructions and it worked like a charm. The hardest
part was finding the doggone driver on Creative's FTP site. The address
I finally went to was :
http://support.soundblaster.com/files/download.asp
I did as the README said, got a weird message about the makefile,
rebooted, and all was okay.l
Good luck.

The sound has to be in the kernel (2.2.xx) but disabled.
You might want to think seriously about getting SuSE
Here is my conf.modules file that came with SuSE 6.2
I recently bought a new sound card AWE64 for $34 and disabled the sound driver that
I bought from 4-Front. You should find the information you need in this file
The section for OSS is commented. You can see how nicely SuSE sets things up for
us. All I had to do was uncomment the lines that I needed and commented the ones that
I didn't need.
I can't get the PPP or the HPFS support to work on 2.3.16 so that was done for nothing.
By the way the sound in the kernel works great with SB AWE64. I fixed the UMP midi
plugin
which now works with SuSE 6.2 even without the 4-Front sound driver, you can find a
copy on my
web site.

Check the HowTo's on Redhat's site. There's one about using multiple NIC's
in Redhat. Seems that Linux finds just one on it's own. You have to add a
line in a configuration file so that it can probe for and find another NIC.
It's all in this HowTo and worked well for me. Here you go:

Subject: help with modem installation
Date: Wed, 08 Sep 1999 03:31:11 GMT
Hi,
I've got a modem installation problem that I hope fellow Linux users can
help me with.
At the moment, I've got an ASUS P5A motherboard that has PNP capabilities.
As well, I'm trying to install an ABC 56k internal modem (from
www.auslinx.com) to which my BIOS has assigned IRQ 9. The packaging on the
modem specifically says that it can work under Linux.
However, I've not had any luck getting access to my modem: I just don't
know which ttySx port is asociated with it and I don't know how to find
out. (Under Windows, it was COM2, but I can't seem to get to my modem with
any of the ttySx ports).
Please help me!!!
Thank you.
Yours,
M. Carpenter

Shouldn't you choose 'ne2k-pci' module, in stead of ne?
I also have an ne2k-pci card, which works fine in both RH & SuSE. I have
found that there is no need to enter I/O address and IRQ, those will be
detected automatically,i.e. in /etc/conf.modules, I have only one line
related to this card: 'alias eth0 ne2k-pci'.
Hope this helps.
