Bitte bei encklish geposten!

Try checking your battery and cmos setup options, sounds like your
battery has died.

Hallo,

Hi,

I have linked a Linux pc and Win 98 pc to a manual switchbox (mouse,
keyboard and monitor).

When switching to Win 98, there is no problem. My mouse is still working.
When switching to Linux, my mouse pointer goes crazy. It flies to the upper
right corner (as well in KDE as in textual mode). and stays there.
Keyboard and monitor are working fine.

I tried several things already:

- killing gpm and restarting with ps2 as well as ms3 options
- crtl-alt- f7 + ctrl-alt-f1

None of these resolve the problem. I always have to reboot the system.
Since this system is working as a server, I really do not like this.
I have been searching the internet for other solutions, but without succes.

Does anybody have any other suggestions?

My system:
- RedHat 7.0 (standard installation)
- Upgrade to KDE 2.0.1 with rpms

Frank

Hi,
I have had troubles installing my SoundBlaster Live too, until I found the
next link:

http://www.euronet.nl/~mailme/index3.html

I know, it is not the same card, but perhaps you find some clues in here.

Frank

Hi there,

I have both Windows and Linux and have been using a while quite ok.
Recently I upgrade to Mandrake7.2 which comes with XFree4.01.

I get everything working and TNT2 recognise working ok. However, the screen
for XFree is slightly off. Previously using Xfree3.36 is perfectly ok and I
know in Xfree3.36, I could use XF86Setup to 'softset' the screen after
configuring the X-server. (Was it call vidtune? the utility).

XFree4.01 does seems to have a utility like this.. so, I have to manually
set the digital monitor on my control when using different OS.

Any solve?

I just got AOpen's GEForce 2 MX card. It was $129 at the local
store, and I got it running in regular X windows ("2d") as you
described before, with XFree86 4.0.2
Just downloaded Mesa and the NVIDEA drivers. The nivia website
does not explicitly mention 3D support for the 2 MX models...
but I will report my findings hopeflly later today :-)

I did not know about that one needs 2.4.0 for AGP support though,
some other acceleration factor. My current kernel is still the default
rh62 one (2.2.14)

Subject: Please help: Installing Linux (Suse) on KT7-Raid
Date: Sun, 14 Jan 2001 17:20:39 +0100

Hi,

i want to install Suse 7.0 on my KT7-Raid on a Raid 0 Array. I've read that
Linux does only support software Raid with the KT7 especially because the
HPT370 is only a software raid, but i cant install the software raid or
other patches (like the HPT370 patch for Linux) until i get installed Linux
first.
While trieing to install Yast recognizes two seperate Harddrives and not the
whole Array.
The other problem is that i have 4-5 GB data on the array that i dont want
to loose (Win2k and Win98 partitions). But i also have an IDE drive which is
connected on a "normal" IDE controller which i could use to boot linux.
So i need advice how i should start booting and installing my linux with
this equipment without loosing my data. Please dont forget that i am a
beginner and cannot compile my own kernel yet :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Add it to a startup script. The name and location of startup scripts
depends on your distribution. For Slackware a good choice would be to
add the line to /etc/rc.d/rc.local

> I use MSN (dont ask why) for my internet provider and I cant type in

I don't know the adresses of MSNs DNS servers, you should really tro to
find them someway. However, the file to edit is /etc/resolv.conf. My
/etc/resolv.conf looks something like this:

nameserver 192.71.220.10
nameserver 192.36.73.2
nameserver 195.58.108.1

It is possible to use any DNS server, even those which belongs to other
ISPs. However, it is not very nice to do this and you will get better
performance if you use your own ISPs DNS server.

oh wow.... it works. faster than i thought. I recompiled MesaLib
and MesaDemo's,installed the NVIDIA kernel and GLX, had to edit
the XF86Config to add the nvidia driver, and load glx and dri,
but it's all(except perahsp for loading the glx extneison, but
you will get an obvious error in X when you try) pretty straightforward
if you follow a mini-HOWTO:

http://www.ibiblio.org/mdw/HOWTO/mini/Nvidia-OpenGL-Configuration-mini-HOWTO/intro.html

What is your system hardware? I just installed a SB Live in an
