I have an oldermonitor that was sold by Sunshine Merchandise Promotions.
The only possibly identifying info on the monitor are the model number:
TKM-1438A and a Product Number: KM-7LR.
Does anyone have access to, or know where I can get, a spec sheet
forthis monitor?

If you need a resolution of 1024x768, then the following step-by-step
instructions will help you:

Please post here if you succeed and, even more important, if you fail.

Do you want to let your PCs and Macs to talk to each others using Linux as a
medium? I've no idea if this can be done, but surely you can set up Linux as
your fileserver, install AppleTalk (netatalk) and compile DDP inside your
kernel and this will let you use your Linux as Macs fileserver. For PCs, you can
install SMB server on Linux and this will give your PCs access Linux as a
fileserver. With this, you dunnot need to buy any extra software to get it to
work. But if you want the PCs to talk directly to the Macs, then you need either
Timbuktu or DAVE (SMB implementation for Mac).

I'm using SuSE 6.1 & Creative 3DBlaster TNT2 Ultra
I had the same error too. So I looked at the shell script,
found out what it did, and manually copied over the files
and created the symbolic links myself. Everything is working
now. My problem before was indeed due to the monitor setting.
Using SaX, now I choose one of the hi-res VESA monitor instead
of my MAG XJ810 and everything works now at 1024x768 16bit :-)

All continue buttons in Win98 install program time out after 15 seconds.
The only time I had to even touch the mouse was after it was fully
installed. I wonder if it was Win98 that wiped out the BIOS or maybe it
was some else.....

Actually, Jurgen (forgive the missing umlaut),
I consulted both dejanews and altavista "usenet" with:
"'memory flush' linux"
and
"'memory usage' linux"
to no avail.
As for the FAQ, sometimes one who is a rather new user (such as myself) isn't
sure in which FAQ, HOW-TO, mini-how-to, etc to look. Give us a break.
Your smart-ass reply does no one any good.

Yep. Get the driver.
http://www.picante.com/~gtaylor/pht/printer_list.cgi?make=Okidata is Oki
printers at the printer database. Here you can see the ljet4 driver is
what you need, and you set it up as a 600dpi Laserjet 4. This driver may
not be the letest on your 5.1 CD.

My sound card works with mp3 players, but i want to be able to record,
so I tried to install
SoundStudio, but it requires reading /dev/sndstat
I can't read /dev/sndstat at all on my RH5.2. Here's the output
[root@pt24r59 /dev]# cat sndstat
cat: sndstat: Operation not supported by device
[root@pt24r59 /dev]# less -f sndstat
sndstat: Operation not supported by device
[root@pt24r59 /dev]#
As you can see, I can't use 'cat' or 'less -f'.
I thought I'd recreate this file, so I renamed the old one as
sndstat.old and executed the following command :
[root@pt24r59 /dev]# mknod -m 666 /dev/sndstat c 14 6
Trying to 'cat' or 'less -f' on the newly created file yields the same
results as above.
Permissions are 666 -- does anyone have any ideas?
I want to make the switch to linux (full time), but I can't until I get
SoundStudio running, but to start SoundStudio requires /dev/sndstat be
read.
Any ideas at all?
Somebody PLEASE PLEASE HELP.
Thanks in advance

You don't have to `suspect'. Check out Suns press releases, one from
11th January 1999 mentions `Solaris running on the IA-64 Pre-Silicon
Software Development Environment'. I `suspect' that Sun could produce
a version of Solaris for Merced tomorrow if the hardware was there to
run it on.

And this from a company which is also supposed to be part of a group of
software companies producing a `unified' version of UNIX for merced.

MIPS processors are 64 bits, even the old R4000 in the old ('93) Indy I
have here. However you're still correct w.r.t. Linux, the Indy port is
32 bit. (IRIX too is 32 bit on the Indy though, IRIX is 64 bit on their
