I don't think 3D DRI is running yet on GeForce cards. NVidia is
apparently still working on an nv driver for this.

I am running three PC's with Windows 98. Each has a Linksys
PCI 10/100 connected to a Linksys 5 port 10/100 switching
hub. My server has a 3COM 3c509 ISA 10Mb NIC installed.
It's connected to a Linksys 4 port 10Mb hub. The two hubs
are connected via a crossover cable. I have two 10Mb print
servers also connected to the 4 port hub.

I hope this helps shed some light on your project.

How do I get my SoundBlaster 64 AWE to transmit music? I have the
software in Linux (RH 6.0[?]) to play CD's and such, but no music comes
out of the boxes when I try it. Help?

Okay, I need help setting this up. I have Red Had 6 that came
with "Red Hat Linux 6 Unleashed." (FYI, it's the book.) I need to
know what driver would be best to use with the card and I need to know
what I put in the IP box. I ran WINIPCFG and got the Host Name, DNS,
Adapter Address, IP Address, Mask, Default Gateway, and DHCP Server.
What information do I need to use? I've got the "linuxconf" thing
down, I just need to know what to put in which box.

Hey, I just want the thing to work. I'm really a newbie, so as much
detail into telling me how to get it up and running would be most
helpful. I know it's not a ZIP+, just an IDE. If you need any more

are you installing with the same media that you had success with before?

I've heard rumors of a bad iso image with BugHat.

I *have* successfully installed BugHat 6.1 on a dual-processor Sparc 10
w/smp support working fine - and a Sparc LX without problems.

Then again... I actually downloaded everything package by package... and
installed via NFS mount on an x86 SuSE machine... and later burned a copy of
the distribution on my own.

As far as I can remember... you *always* seem to get python related errors
during almost any failure in the install - doesn't necessarily mean it was
*installing* python.

I'm curious how far into the install these errors come up... in terms of %
of the total install.

I had alot of problems with lilo. I've overwritten my MBR, gotten the 1010101,
and got stuck with LI waiting for the LO. I have a 6 gig and 10 gig
HD and am doing alot of installing and checking things out. I have just
switched to using loadlin.exe. It is very simple to use and I think I can
experiment without all the complications of LILO. I can usually get to the C
prompt without problems. I have copied a vmlinuz file from each of the boot
images. They are on the boot disk used to install(either floppy or cdrom) When
I copy to the c: I label them vmlinuz, vmlinuz1, so I can test different
versions or kernels. So far it seems less complicated that LILO.

Dear Yan Seiner:

Thank you much for the quick response and the section of patched FlashPoint.c
code! I modified the /usr/src/linux/devices/scsi/FlashPoint.c file and
rebuilt the kernel, and the system has not hung once this evening during
stress tests on the SCSI bus. The hard disk drive, tape drive, and BT-930
SCSI controller are all playing nice together. Life is good. {:~)

With the exception of your response and that of Seagate tech support, the
responses I received - including those from Mylex (BusLogic) tech support -
recommended that I replace the SCSI cable and add more termination. This
evenings stress tests prove the cable and termination are fine. You saved me
the time and expense of unnecessarily replacing my cable and terminators.

It is clear that you were the only respondent who recognized the implications
of the initial tests I described. Slowing the SCSI transfer rates down to 5M
would likely have masked a cable/termination problem in a system that
otherwise (i.e before the addition of the tape drive) operated fine at 20M,
thereby eliminating these components as the only cause of the system hang
problem. It is disappointing that Mylex tech support "highly recommend
replacing the cable, and using a terminator on the end of the cable", given
that someone at Mylex had previously seen and understood the problem, and
offered you the correct solution.

You hit the nail on the head, Yan. Thanks again for your help!

- Bernard

ok... you just need to figure out where you have it attached (first/second
master/slave)

first master is probably your hard-drive - /dev/hda
first slave - /dev/hdb

secondary master - /dev/hdc
secondary slave - /dev/hdd

---

*Normally* a zip disk is mounted on the 4th primary partition (/dev/hdb4,
/dev/hdc4, etc...)

----

Assuming you have the zip fat16/fat32 formatted... create a mount point...
and try the manual mount before you stick something in /etc/fstab.

mount -t vfat /dev/hdc4 /zip

(replace /dev/hdc4 with whatever you determined was the correct drive
location)

Subject: Re: Help LILO 10101... Problem!!!

I had the problem with the machine hanging on 'LI'. After several hours of
reading I found the 'lilo -linear' command. Something do to with big drives I
think.

Try to get your system booted with a boot disk and run that command and see if
it works.

I am no means an expert on this and my solution may be the wrong one for you
problem. I suggest you do some reading as well.
