I have never had good luck trying to set com ports to anything but
interrupts 3 and 4; not 5. In fact you can have ttyS0 and ttyS2
share int 4 and ttyS1 and ttyS3 share int 3.
I recommend that you do it that way. Also, make sure that the BIOS
is set correctly; the base address is set differently for sharing
one interrupt for two serial ports.

http://www.csd.uu.se/~mikpe/linux/ftape/ contains patches for compiling
ftape-4.03-pre2 in 2.2.16 and 2.4.0-test2. While there's no patch for
whatever kernel RH6.2 ships as default, the 2.2.16 patch should work.
(No update for 2.4.0-test4 yet; BKL changes require careful analysis.)
Or you might want to try the new official ftape-4.03 from Heine's web site;
I had no luck compiling it however so I'm sticking with 4.03-pre2 for now.

Hi everyone!
I'm trying to build and download Linux to the Cirrus Logic EP 7211 ARM
board. I have a problem with doing the actual downloading. I am using
a linux program that downloads the code, I found this program in the
ecos source code, to download it I concatenate the ANGEL rom with the
zImage rom that I created of the linux kernel, and try to download that.
When I boot up the board, the Angel starts cause a little green light on
the board tells me so, but the kernel doesn't boot up. Can anyone please
tell me what I did wrong here? Is there a special way to put the angel
rom and the zImage rom together? Or if you have a better way of
downloading the Linux kernel to this board, please let me know. Thanks!

Are you saying that NETGEAR themselves told you that the Linux
tulip driver should work?
I looked through the driver kits for FA311 and FA312, and the Linux
drivers looked like custom code applicable _only_ to these NICs.
(I'd be happy to be proven wrong, however.)
You might want to try the de4x5 driver. My DC21143 NIC didn't work
with the tulip driver in earlier 2.2.x kernels, but de4x5 did work.

So, 1) has anyone had success driving the i810 chipset to produce good

I am not sure how much this will help you but...
I just built a new computer with a geforce card. With Mandrake Linux 7.1
I did the expert install and chose the option to run Xfree 4.0 . It
recognized and configured my card without a hitch.
I believe that your problem might be solved by upgrading to XFree 4.0, for
more information try searching through the various linux sites online and
search engines for information about geforce and linux. Good luck.

I have been using a netgear PS110 print server with one printer, but I
don't seem to be able to talk to the second. Somebody once
told me to use the rp= directive in /etc/printcap for this,
so the printcap would look as follows:
ps:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\
:mx#0:\
:sh:\
:rm=192.168.1.101:\
:rp=P1:\
:if=/var/spool/lpd/lp/filter:
ps2:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lp:\
:mx#0:\
:sh:\
:rm=192.168.1.101:\
:rp=P2:\
:if=/var/spool/lpd/lp/filter:
but all traffic sent to 'ps2' still winds up on the first (ps)
printer...
btw, it works fine from my wife's Windows box, she can send to P1 and
P2.

Hello,
I am a Mandrake Linux user, I am running an AMD K6-2 475mhz processor
with 96mb RAM. It doesn't cut it. I need more power. So I am going to build
a new computer from scratch. I am really interested in building a
multi-processing computer, but I don't really know where to start. I don't
need to run any ridiculously big programs. But I think that with two
processors running multiple processes would go a lot smoother than they do
now. Also I will buy more RAM. Any ideas on what I should look into to build
a kick ass Linux SMP machine.. I'm thinking 2 PIII 550s.....

Subject: Dual IDE controller card
Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2000 12:20:51 -0500
Hello,
I have an old 486 which used to have a single ide controller card
(with two hard drives connected to it) and a proprietary controller for
a Matushita/Panasonic/Creative 2x CD-ROM. The cd-rom went the way of
hadware heaven and I want to put in another unit.
I figured I would change the ide controler for a dual ide one (ide0
and ide1 on the same board). I tested it using another hard drive I had
lying around (I collect old components :). Booting Linux shows all three
drives hda, hdb and the added hdc on the ide1 connector) but says "hdc:
lost interrupt" and eventually hangs.
A cat /proc/interrupts shows ide0 in irq 14 and ide1 on irq 15.
My questions are:
1. Is there a jumper I could set to correct this (lost interrupt).
2. What is IOCHRDY? Should I enable or disable it (jumper on controler)?
Thanks,
Mathieu

I would have a look at LhD to check the ratings on the rest of your

The LGPL does infact tend to be used instead of the GPL in instances
where merely reusing a component, while not actually altering that
