SuSE doesn't ship on a single CD-ROM. It's a 5 CD set,
plus another for the source files.
SuSE's philosophy is "everything and the kitchen sink" as
far as I can tell.

HowTos are usually included in whatever distribution you use, but I
looked up a URL for you (that's what a nice guy I am;-)

Here is the answer!
alias eth0 wd
alias eth1 wd
options eth0 -o wd-0 io=0x280 irq=3
options eth1 -o wd-1 io=0x300 irq=10
Now I will try it.

To be more correct, because wd driver can handle multiple cards it's
simply....
alias eth0 wd
alias eth1 wd
options wd io=0x280, 0x300
thanks

I just put together a box with the 6800 with 8 40Gig drives
attached. Works like a champ. It doesn't support RAID 5, but
that doesn't mean 3Ware isn't planning on adding it. I just
needed need a really big disk and couldn't swing the money

A friend of mine has one running Win98 and Linux 6.2. Works great for
him. You can set the display to 1024x768 but it will only display
1024x480 on the screen. When you move the mouse beyond the bottom
of the display it scrolls to display the lower portion of the screen.

Best place to check would be the support section of Redhat's site.
I didn't see the Utlra 150 on the list, but if they support the
250 and 450 system I would think it would also work on the 150.

Subject: RAID.o module to Initrd on boot-image
Date: Sat, 23 Sep 2000 23:55:47 +0200
I want (must!) install redhat 6.2 (kernel 2.2.14-50smp) with the
installation diskette
straight onto a Mylex Acceleraid 352 (DAC960).
The kernel itself has a built in DAC960.o but an older version of it, which
does not recognize the new 352 (u160-2ch)
I have the new file, and also builded a module DAC960.o (for 2.2.17 thaugh,
is that ok?)
Currently, I installed RH on auxilary drive (IDE) and upgraded kernel to
2.2.17 with the new DAC960 and
I can now see the logical drive of the disk array.
But - i have to get rid of the IDE after i made a successful installation on
the bootable logical drive of the RAID.
>From what i understood - i need to modify the installation diskette with the
new module. is that correct?
Should I also modify the vmlinuz on the disk (its 2.2.14-50) to go with the
module? (built for 2.2.17 or 2.2.16)
if this is the way, I tried that, gunzipped, looped and mounted to the
initrd thats on the disk, gunzipped the modules
file, and saw another modules file, didnt know what to do with it so i put
the dac960.o becides it, modified the
modules.info file, gzipped modules, unmounted, and gzipped initrd. but now i
cant fit the size of initrd in the disk.
i dont know if thats enough to do thaugh, since maybe modifications are to
be done to the vmlinuz too. also i dont know if i did this whole thing
right.
Maybe you know about a way to copy the rh-cdrom to hd, configure it there,
and install on the raid?
Please reply to this post, as i desperatly need to bring the system up in 5
hours.
Thanks,

It's certianly true that it should be specified in /etc/conf.modules for
the Redhat distribution.
The Slackware distrubution (for example) has an rc.modules file that is
executed as part of the boot process and contains the modprobe
statements. Slackware does not have mkinitrd nor /etc/conf.modules as a
standrard part of the distribution nor does it if have man pages for
either of these, whereas Redhat does.
So if you want to use specific hardware you need to know how to support it
under the distribution you are using and should be aware that the support
may not be portable to another distribution (without adding additional
software).
I hope this helps those who need this information.

Well, I'm stumped. I have a cheap Mitsumi ps/2 scroll mouse (it's
really a button rather than a scrolling wheel) which worked perfectly
under Red Hat 6.0, 6.1, and 6.2.
Under Red Hat 6.9 (Pinstripe), if I set it up as anything other than a
2-button ps/2 mouse without 3-button emulation, it jumps to the upper
right corner of the screen as soon as I move it under X.
Any ideas?
