We are currently looking for a PostgreSQL DBA who will be responsible for managing Metglobal’s databases. You will have the opportunity to work with high load database clusters, geographical replicated databases and very talented engineering teams. About The Job - Proactively monitor activity, utilization and database health - Propose and deploy appropriate improvements; automate repetitive tasks - Contribute to the architecture solutions for scalability, hardware requirements, and security improvements in our DevOps teams - Design, implement and maintain archival and high availability strategies - Maintain and oversee database backup and recovery procedures, develop and routinely test recovery procedures for each database - Assist development team with schema changes based on profiling and optimization possibilities - Design and maintain multi-master, multi-regional database structures according to business needs. - Performance tuning and SQL optimization Who We Are Looking For? - 3+ years working with PostgreSQL databases in production environment. Experience with MySQL is a plus. - Solid skills in database performance factors, monitoring tools and tuning procedures - Proven experience working with PostgreSQL and Linux - Experience with writing statements, scripts and functions with SQL (and/or PL/pgSQL), Bash, Python or Perl - Experience with data replication and pooling technologies (e.g. Londiste, Slony, WAL Shipping, pgpool) - Experience with automation tools such as Chef, Puppet or Ansible - Knowledge of cloud infrastructures.
