Position: Senior Hadoop Developer Location: Remote WHAT WE WANT We’re looking for a Senior Hadoop Developer who will work with cross functional teams to design, build, develop, and test Hadoop-based code for web applications that are highly scalable and reliable. WHAT YOU WILL DO - Design, build, configure, deploy, and optimize Hadoop clusters. - Develop data model and ingestion code to load large volumes of data from our social media applications. - Develop data processing components using HDFS/Hive/LLAP/Pig. - Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed design. - Create scalable and high-performance web services for data access. - Test prototypes and oversee handover to operational teams. - Maintain security and data privacy. - Propose best practices/standards. - Be fully integrated with an agile development team - Troubleshoot critical production issues that occur outside of the regular release cycle. WHAT YOU MUST HAVE - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience - 5+ years’ experience developing Big Data applications using Hadoop - Good knowledge of back-end programming, specifically Python, SQL, HiveQL - Good knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and practices. - Ability to write MapReduce jobs. - Ability to write Pig Latin scripts. - Familiarity with other tools like Flume, HBase, Oozie. - Analytical and problem-solving skills, applied to Big Data domain - Good aptitude in multi-threading and concurrency concepts. - Familiarity with an agile development process. WHAT IS PREFERRED - Hands-on experience in building highly scalable and interactive web applications on top of Hadoop/Hive/LLAP is highly desired - Hands-on experience in building data management backend components using Python is highly desired WHAT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE - Comfortable working independently and as a member of a cross functional team - Have a high degree of honesty and integrity - Comfortable in a fast-paced environment - Team-player, positive attitude and flexible
