Many disadvantages were already listed by ira and alex.  
English is clearly the most comfortable medium for discussions of
computer-related stuff. 
With the exception of cases involving public rudeness (see a recent
posting by Mr. Nadav Staymetz) bad english has been tolerated (at least
since the end of Marc Volovic's days) and has never posed a barrier to
participation in this list, so that's not a real issue.

Count this as another NO vote (for what it's worth).
