Oh, tush! How many of you "newbies" ever booted up a PDP 11/40 from the panel switches? And that only worked it you had the bootstrap board option intalled. Why, it had real diodes on it! And (wait for it!) it ran an new non DEC operating system called UNIX if you afford to pay AT & T about $10,000 for a tape. (I asked, back in 1976!) For that you needed at least 64Kb of core memory (Yeah, I said core memory!) and at least one 2.5 Mb RK05 disk drive, to say nothing of a tape. (There may have been a paper tape option, but I don't remember ...) And do any of you /real/programmers recall RSX 11 sysgens?
