I just switched to RedHat 6.0 and I'm using loadlin to boot my Linux.
RedHat supplied a kernel image on their CD-ROM but the problem is that
it's version 2.2.5-14, while the modules on the hard-disk are 2.2.5-15.
Thus, I cannot insmod any module, including those for FAT
partitions I/O.

I tried to compile a new kernel, and the compilation went fine. The
problem was that when I ran loadlin with the new kernel (whether zImage or
bzImage), it told me that it was not a valid boot image. Note that the
kernel image on the CD-ROM does work with it, but I don't know how it was
generated.

I finally tried "make zdisk", but all I got from the boot disk was the
number "1005" printed many times.

Can anybody help me so I can finally run my Linux in style, with sound,
FAT access and everything?

TIA,

        Shlomi Fish
