It sounds to me like the conection uses, in addition to the callback
feature, PAP or CHAP. Take a look in the ISP-Hookup howto and set your
system according to the instruction. basically it's a matter of entering
one line o ftext in /etc/pppd/{pap|chap}-secrets with your username and
password.
