Ah, now I see. I still use 2.2.9, so that's why I never saw those effects.
OTOH, I use 2.2.12 as a desktop and newer saw those effects too - but my
desktop is mostly static (i.e., same xterm-netscape-editor combinations
remain open and static for a couple of weeks), so it has much less chances
to leak...
