One point to start with is the assembly HOWTO. IIRC it has a short list of
references at the end.

Hi,
We are converting our Computer vision to run in real-time (30 fps) on a
cluster of dual PIII (running linux of course). Some of the optimization
work will involve writing parts of the code in assembly (this is
currently the only way to use the new SSE extension of the PIII on linux
machines).

My question is- can anyone recommend a good book (online or paper) on
the x86 assembly? I've wrote some 8086 assembly about 10 years ago, but
I don't remember much. If the book has some orientation for
optimization, this will be even better. If the syntax is like gas - it
can't be better, but Intel's syntax will do too.

Thanks in advance,
Ilan
