I believe that not every member intend to reuse every piece of hardware
that gets upgraded. In addition, most MS users probably un concisely
give their old hardware to the technician who upgrade their machine.
And most technicians I can think of will not sell it cheap. Either they
will find some use for it or that they will charge a sum that I would
not pay or that they throw it away.
In a sense an old hardware database is like the jobs database. I
believe nobody will claim that the job database is a great success. Yet
I do not think that someone is considering to drop it either.
Apparently people do try to use it. (The most important difference is
probably that the job database has a maintainer.)
