Right :) A few months ago someone sent such a thing to the NANOG (North American Network Operators' Group) mailing list, and the people on the mailing list (all of which are network experts) had a field day making fun of the poor sap who forwarded this "announcement". Not less than 9 people replied with why this was not a Microsoft site :) See http://www.cctec.com/maillists/nanog/current/msg00308.html I wonder why these hoaxes always pick on Microsoft, of all companies :) Another common hoax that gets brought up on that mailing list (and I think it already visited this one too) is a (false) claim that the microsoft.com name server was cracked: try running $ whois microsoft.com and see the kind of crap you get, like MICROSOFT.COM.WILL.ALWAYS.FEARPENGUINS.COM MICROSOFT.COM.WHOIS.RESULTS.MAKE.A.GREAT.HUMOUR-LIST.COM MICROSOFT.COM.WAS.HACKED.TODAY.BY.JAMESSMALL.COM MICROSOFT.COM.IS.HOPELESSLY.INSECURE.ORG MICROSOFT.COM.HQ.SHOULD.HAVE.BEEN.MOVED.TO.BAGDAD.JUST.BEFORE.THE.GULFWAR.ORG and so on... -- Nadav Har'El | Monday, Mar 11 2002, 27 Adar 5762 [EMAIL PROTECTED] |----------------------------------------- Phone: +972-53-245868, ICQ 13349191 |Tact is the art of making a point without http://nadav.harel.org.il |making an enemy. ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
