You can connect with the IMAP protocol to the exchange server (if properly configured) and read those public folders. You can do that, for example, with Mozilla. Mozilla's "Mail and Newsgroup Accounts Settings" should have something to enable/disable the viewing of these extra folders. This is how I read "public folders" when the Microsoft junkies in my company force me to read one... I never found how to *write* a message in a public folder with Mozilla, though. Perhaps someone knows how this is done?
