It is not correct that _nothing_ is considered off-topic in Hackers-IL.
Examples of the latter are:
1. How do I print a string to the screen in C. (newbie questions)
2. Occupation of the West Bank or Gaza - good or bad. (political
questions)
3. How do I become a cracker. (sorry guys - could not resist, but it seems
to be a theme around there.)
Hackers-IL is dedicated to intelligent discussion of Computing and to
a slightly lesser extent Science. By intelligent we mean things that are
either profound, of high interest to computer enthusiasts, or otherwise
high quality. We have a diverse range of topics, but we do consider some
things as of no interest to us, and several threads were already declared
as off-topic and then saw their peaceful termination.
I find Hackers-IL to be a very good mailing list, and I usually find it
very interesting to read it. However, it may not be for you. If you wish
to get an impression of the stuff that goes on there, check our
online archive. (everything is there "le'dera'on olam")
