Another good piece of software that is worth mentioning in the context of this thread is xmove, which can be found at ftp://ftp.cs.columbia.edu/pub/xmove/ or as the Debian package "xmove". Basically it's an X server proxy that allows you to move X applications connected to it from one X server to another, or even put them to sleep altogether -- disconnect them from the server, and connect them at a later time. In other words, it's the "nohup" for your X applications. :-)
