Andrew Morton (author of one of the linux drivers for cards of this
family) pointed me towards 3com's dos based setup utility. I tried
setting this card up on win95 with it, to no avail. 

I'll try to test it on a reasonably recent version of windows, as well
as get a replacement card. Thanks for your help.
