Nope, only to upgrade, since there are some bug fixes (in glibc 2.2.5) that corrected some "nice" and "renice" behaviors, and it seems VMWare didn't follow the doc (which was messed by itself - man page is different from the seperated doc - don't you just love it?), so now it's fixed and you can use only VMWare 3.1 and above..
