yeah, i have it mounted and it still doesn't work :o(. in fact i added an
entry in fstab with permissions 0666. then i unmounted (because it was
already mounted) and mounted usbdevfs.
what could have possibly changed from mdk 8.0 to 8.2?

Do you have usbdevfs mounted?
If not, try:
mount -t usbdevfs none /prob/bus/usb
