The test program's compilation really fails:
kdetest.cpp: In function `int main()':
kdetest.cpp:6: no method `KApplication::kde_htmldir'
kdetest.cpp:8: no method `KApplication::kde_appsdir'
kdetest.cpp:10: no method `KApplication::kde_icondir'
kdetest.cpp:12: no method `KApplication::kde_sounddir'
kdetest.cpp:14: no method `KApplication::kde_datadir'
kdetest.cpp:16: no method `KApplication::kde_localedir'
kdetest.cpp:18: no method `KApplication::kde_cgidir'
kdetest.cpp:20: no method `KApplication::kde_configdir'
kdetest.cpp:22: no method `KApplication::kde_mimedir'
kdetest.cpp:24: no method `KApplication::kde_toolbardir'
kdetest.cpp:26: no method `KApplication::kde_wallpaperdir'
kdetest.cpp:28: no method `KApplication::kde_bindir'
kdetest.cpp:30: no method `KApplication::kde_partsdir'

KDE 2 applications are not compatible with KDE 3 and would often require
some porting (though usually minimal).
