I had a chance to drive along Kaplan the other day, and I can confirm
that there is no left turn from there (it's a narrow street that
carries a lot of traffic towards Ayalon and Derekh ha-Shalom, I guess
the left turns were forbidden for this reason) until Laskov.

You can turn left to Laskov or Ibn Gvirol, carry on to Yehuda ha-Levi,
and turn left to Hashmonaim.

Possible _strategies_ when driving from the North and from the South:

* From the North, if you find yourself in Ayalon, take the ha-Shalom
exit (Azrieli Towers) and carry on to Kaplan, as above. Note that
there is no exit from Ayalon at Arlozorov, nor is there any sense in
exiting at Halacha (the previous exit).

If you take Kvish ha-Hof and continue to Namir, you will eventually
get to the fork and can either take Derekh Petach Tikva and turn to
Hashmonaim (see Orna's map), or take Shaul Hamelech and turn left to
  Ibn Gvirol, etc.

* From the South, driving up Ayalon, you can either exit at ha-Shalom,
or earlier at La-Guardia, left onto the bridge, and immediately
right to ha-Masger St., which should take you to Hashmonaim where it
  joins Derekh Petach Tikva.

Hope it helps.
